June 24, Sunday, 1st day that Saudi Women are allowed to drive

At the stroke of midnight Sunday, women in Saudi Arabia got behind the wheels of their cars and drove in the streets of the conservative capital Riyadh, a daily mundane act everywhere else but here.

They marked the historic end to a ban on women driving, the culmination of more than three decades of activism.
