More than 500 illegal drug users have recently surrendered in separate places in Angeles City and Arayat town to avoid the heat of police operations focusing on drugs.
Chief Supt. Aaron N. Aquino of Philippine National Police (PNP) Central Luzon command is expecting more to surrender in the future. “Those who surrendered have made the right choice,” Aquino said on an interview.
Arayat town police chief Supt. Rommel Batangan said, a lot of people are now voluntarily surrenders in their precent. A total of 456 individuals from 30 villages went to municipal hall to formalize their surrender on Friday to Mayor Bon Alejandro.
“Siguro natakot sila sa warning ni Mayor Alejandrino kaya nagsulputan sa munisipyo (They were probably jolted by the mayor’s warning, and yielded at the town hall),” said Batangan.

Meanwhile in Angeles City, a total of 107 suspected shabu users were surrendered by their relatives to Barangay Balibago Chairman Rodelio “Tony” Mamac on President Duterte’s inauguration.
“We’re going to closely monitor them, and, once caught sniffing illegal drugs again, they will be dealt with accordingly,” said Mamac.
