President Rodrigo Duterte blasted a Catholic Bishop on Monday for opposing his administration’s war on drugs. He attempted to disparage the religious leader by citing the bishop’s two wives

“Ang opening remarks si Bacani. P— inang Bacani na iyan, dalawa pala ang asawa. Pareho ko. Parang mayor din ang buang. Tapos kung magsalita itong mga unggoy na ito, ‘t*** ina,” the President said.

He said this in front of the orphaned families of the police officers involved in the Philippine National PoliceSpecial Action Force Mamasapano incident that occurred 2 years ago – dubbed the SAF 44.

The president once again slammed the Catholic Church, focusing his wrath on Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani.

The bishop stated his criticism for Duterte’s drug war during his speech at the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy. He even tagged the PNP as a “bringer of death.”

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said that there was something in Bacani’s statement that triggered the president, calling it a move that struck a nerve with Duterte

Duterte also referenced the book “Altar of Secrets” by late journalist Aries Rufo to expose the indiscretions of Philippine Catholic priests.
