The camp of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo has claimed victory in the vice presidential race even if the transmission of certificates of canvass has yet to be completed.

Boyet Dy, policy unit head of Robredo’s campaign team, said the Liberal Party vice presidential candidate will lead her closest rival, Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. by 24,341 votes even if all the votes that have yet to be counted were credited to him.

The uncounted number of votes were based on the number of registered voters in the nine municipalities which have yet to transmit their certificates of canvass.

Robredo is currently ahead of Marcos by 257,567 votes.

Dy said Robredo is headed for victory as publicly available data shows that it would be mathematically impossible for Marcos to overcome her advantage.

These remaining COCs are from:

  • Rizal
  • Laguna
  • Allen, Northern Samar
  • Catarman, Northern Samar
  • Lope de Vega, Northern Samar
  • Binidayan, Lanao del Sur
  • Masiu, Lanao del Sur
  • Tamparan, Lanao del Sur
  • Indanan, Sulu, and
  • Bacungan, Zamboanga del Norte.

According to the latest count, including the overseas and local absentee voting, Robredo leads Marcos by 257,567 votes.

Even if Marcos wins all the 168,988 votes from the nine remaining municipalities, Dy said it will not be enough for him to overcome Robredo’s lead.

Dy pointed out that from the start of the partial and unofficial counting, Team Leni has been using the numbers from the COMELEC and transparency servers as basis.

Aside from this, several experts have projected, based on the ongoing tally, that Robredo will win the vice presidency.

— APG, GMA News
