3,500,000 kg of Gold Bars Deposited by the PNoy Administration in Thailand

280,000 bars of gold each weighing 12.5kg with a purity of 99.999 were deposited in the Bank of Thailand. Total weight of the gold deposits reach 3,500,000 kg or 3500 metric tons.

A Banko Central ng Pilipinas certificate that circulated online was issued on the 22nd of December 2014.

Base on the documents that circulated online, the signatories of the Banko Central Certificate were Leila de Lima, Mar Roxas, Amando Tetangko, Franklin Drilon and Cesar Purisima.

 

 

 

 

The authenticity of the documents are still questionable, but the Aquino administration did not yet issue an official statement authenticating or denying its veracity.

Central banks gold purchase data from the IMF is in for April 2012. Mexico, Kazakhstan and Ukraine added about 204,000 ounces in April. The Philippines added a whopping 1.033 million ounces in March with gold now at 13.6% of its total reserves. UBS highlighted the Philippines’ gold purchase is significant as this is the second largest monthly Central Bank’s purchase after Mexico’s purchase of 2.5 million ounces in March 2011.
