Dagdag pa niya na: “This is a unique project because this will not just spur economic development but also uplift the conditions of the people living along the coastline,”

“An urban renewal and poverty alleviation program” for residents of the area”

As agreed, basic utilities and services shall be put in place, main roads will be cleared and “zoning” to be enhanced to allow a free flow of safety and security vehicles.

A flood control system and other calamity mitigating measures are also integrated in the project along with “pockets” of recreational, commercial and sanitation centers to ensure a “holistic approach” to community development.

A ‘Port City,’ comprising a commercial business district and an industrial park, is also to be developed to generate employment for local residents while also enticing other investors to put their money in Davao.

Using the ‘Green Urbanism’ concept, MHPDI assured that “care for the environment” would be their “prime consideration.”

“It (green urbanism) will regain the coastline of Davao where hotels and resorts will locate. In effect, this will strengthen Davao City’s stake in the tourism and convention industry,” the company said.

When completed, the project, the biggest of its kind so far to be undertaken in the South, is expected to turn Davao into the “premier gateway” to business opportunities across the region.

Mega Harbour is the country’s port city developer and is part of a conglomerate whose track record of accomplishment includes port development and operations, township development, low-cost housing and property management.
