FDA approves emergency use of Sinovac vaccine

FDA Director General Rolando Enrique Domingo said the vaccine had a 65.3 percent to 91 percent efficacy rate. However, the agency said it does not recommend the use of the vaccine for medical workers because of its lower efficacy rate.

Domingo added that the vaccine had mild and moderate adverse effects.

With the EUA approval, shipments of the vaccine may now be allowed in the country.

The Philippines is set to receive its first batch of 600,000 Sinovac vaccines courtesy of the Chinese Embassy.
