The former Ateneo de Manila University professor wants some answers from the questions she posted on her Facebook account. Prof. Christina Astorga questions President Duterte’s revelation of five PNP Generals in public who’ve been allegedly involved in illegal drug trade.
Prof. Christina Astorga cited the news posted by the website The Maharlikan where it said that, “Duterte admits he doesn’t hold any solid evidence linking the 5 generals to drug trade.”
The professor had started her post with a question, “NO SOLID EVIDENCE LINKING THE 5 GENERALS TO DRUG TRADE?”
She asked and said, “Is this part of the blitzkrieg operations against drug? Drug addicts/pushers are killed on mere suspicion. Five generals are linked to drug trade without solid evidence.”
“Would this now be the modus operandi of the Duterte government?” professor added.
Prof. Astorga continue to question the public announcement of a accused even without solid evidence. “People are accused in public without solid evidence, and people are killed without due process. Is this a strategy of President Duterte for high-impact?” she said.
“But names, reputations, and careers are destroyed and people are being killed,” she added.
She told that there is something brutal about the Duterte presidency. Then, “they say that the way one campaigns is the way one governs.”
“His entire campaign promoted a culture of brutality. His cadre of supporters engaged in brutal attacks against non-Duterte supporters.”
“Duterte was brutal with Mars as he did not mince his words in insulting and mocking him.” she said.
Professor Astorga warned everyone to be vigilant because if not maybe we might end up to brutal dictatorship. She said, “If we are not vigilant we might wake up one morning to a brutal dictatorship.”
On the other hand, Malacañang refuses to show in the public the evidence that they had in their possession. The Presidential Communications Sec. Martin Andanar said that the documentary evidence in which the President Rodrigo Duterte’s source for telling the names of ‘5 PNP Generals’ in the public are will be temporarily confidential.
According to Bombo Radyo Philippines, “Ayon kay Andanar, kung isisiwalat sa publiko ang mga testimonial at documentary evidence ay makakaapekto ito sa administrative at criminal investigation sa ilalim ng prinsipyo ng due process.”
