Dinepensahan ni President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, noong martes ang kanyang mga napiling cabinete, by saying he wants people he trusts.
Sa pahayag ni Duterte he appointed classmates and other personalities he met in school and during his long years in public service.

“Kayong taga-Maynila, do not be too..judgmental about a person. Itong si Duterte ang kinuha, mga kabarkada, kainuman at mga kasama. Look, I am really dyed-in-the-wool probinsyano. Nag-aral kami dito…Ang mga nakilala ko dito sa buhay ko mga taga-Davao. Hindi naman ako yinaya ng mga sosyal sa Maynila. Sabihin pa nga, wala kang alam sa economics,” he said.
Sa payahag ni Duterte, pinili niya si atty. Vitaliano Aguirre as the next justice secretary dahil sa kanyang nagawa bilang lead counsel of Hubert Webb in the Vizconde murder-rape case.
Pinuri rin nya si Incoming Speaker and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez sa kanyang nagkaraang experiensya bilang former secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications.
