Sen. Manny Pacquiao opposes Lascañas to testify in the senate:”Dapat mag dignidad tayo sa senado”

Senator Manny Pacquiao opposed the appearance of retired SPO3 Arthur Lascañas in the senate to testify his new story about the “Davao Death Squad”

He urged the other senators to preserve the dignity of the senate and don’t let witnesses like Lascañas to testify again.

Pacquiao said that if the senate allowed Lascañas to testify despite that he flip flopped his previous testimonies, it might affect the future senate investigations.

“Kailangan nating ipakita na may dignidad tayo dito sa Senado. Dignity is the most important thing here in the Senate…Kung ako pala ay witness, pwede na pala akong mag sinungaling dahil pwede naman palang bawiin…Yan ang magiging basis sa susunod na mga hearing. Huwag nating paglaruan ang mga position natin bilang Senador.” Senator Manny Pacquiao said in his senate speech.

In an interview, Manny Pacquiao also told the reporters that maybe some people who opposed President Rodrigo Duterte convinced SPO3 Lascañas to change his testimony to destroy the image of the President.

“Paano mo paniniwaalan e nag statement na dito yun e? Tapos nag statement na naman” Pacquiao told the reporters

SPO3 Lascañas appeared last year at the senate investigation on alleged extrajudicial killings happened during the Duterte administration, but last month he junked all his previous under-oath testimony.

In his previous statements, Lascañas denied the existence of the Davao Death Squad and even debate with Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who’s now helping him to testify against President Duterte. [source]
